A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Eunice woman Friday afternoon.

Troop I spokesman Master Trooper Brooks David reported 24-year-old Shinequia Anderson was killed while driving on US 190 near Eunice.

Anderson's vehicle ran off the road, near La. 758, before traveling through a ditch and striking a culvert.

Anderson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. The St. Landry Parish Coroner's Office pronounced her dead at the scene of the crash.

Front seat passenger, 23-year-old Keeya Shillow, of Eunice and a juvenile seated in the back seat of the vehicle, were not wearing seat belts and sustained moderate injuries.  Both Shillow and the juvenile were taken by AirMed to a local hospital for treatment.

"Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death," David said.
