Foreign Nationals Arrested In Lafayette ATM Skimmer Investigation
Lafayette police have arrested a pair of teenage foreign nationals for installing an ATM skimming device at a local credit union.
Lafayette PD spokesman Cpl. Karl Ratcliff said 17-year-old Stan Giovani and a 16-year-old male accomplice were arrested and charged Sunday under Louisiana's Anti-Skimming Act (LA R.S. 14:67.4).
The suspects reportedly have no local ties. They were located at a local hotel.
Ratcliff warned the public to exercise caution when using ATMs. Check for any unusual or uncommon equipment attached to the unit and shield you PIN number if possible.
If anyone encounters what they believe to be a skimming device, please contact the Lafayette Police Department.
