This could be a landmark day in how the state of Louisiana does business. The government actually wants our opinion on how to solve the state's budget crisis!

Okay, I'm just kidding, they don't really care what we think. They just want our money so they can do what they think is best. Of course, these actions will be done without any regard to the consequences inflicted upon the residents of the state.

Can you tell I'm a little bitter?

However, LSU's Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs, and The Advocate are interested in what you think would be the best way to solve our state's total lack of money management.

The two entities have established a website where you can submit your solutions.

Even if you don't know much about taxes or spending or spending taxes your input is encouraged and welcomed. There are two different sections to the survey. One does focus on taxes, the other asks about spending.

If you haven't figured out those are the two big topics when it comes to budget reform. The question is basically this, "Do we need to collect more money to solve the problem or do we need to stop spending more than we have"? It's basically what you and I have to do in our homes every day to afford to live.

In my mind, it would only make sense that government would be held to the same standards that the citizens it was elected serve must abide by.
