Iberia Suspect Turns Himself In For Attempted Second Degree Murder

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office investigators were called out to a shooting Sunday night in the 1100 block of Weeks Street.

Detectives learned that a 20-year-old man had been taken to the hospital after being shot, and they began the investigation into what happened.

Police say some sort of fight took place between the victim and 17-year-old Jarrick Augustine Jr. of New Iberia.

Investigators say they learned that Augustine had fired a gun more than one time in the direction of the victim.

Augustine turned himself to police at the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Monday afternoon.

He was arrested for attempted second degree murder, and he was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

Detectives say the investigation remains open at this time.
