Juvenile Arrested For Allegedly Starting Fires
Lafayette Police have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile for allegedly setting a house and business on fire.
Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan said yesterday morning firefighters at the Verot School Road station were notified by a person passing by that a house was on fire.
Firefighters put out the fire, and no one was injured.
As investigators began to look into the matter, a local business owner claimed someone tried to set their establishment on fire as well.
Police have identified a 16-year-old as the suspect in the two cases who is facing the following charges:
- One count of Aggravated Arson
- One count of Simple Arson
Trahan says they are continuing to investigate these fires.
