Update: 15-year-old Damari Jennings has been indicted on first degree and attempted second-degree murder charges in the death of 51-year-old Connie Burch of Pineville and the shooting of a 27-year-old Lafayette man. According to our news partners at KATC, he's in jail with no bond.

Update: The 15-year-old suspect accused of killing a Pineville woman in Lafayette is now charged with allegedly shooting someone else. Lafayette Police say he is accused of shooting a 27-year-old man as the victim rode his bike on August 8 at the intersection of St. Landry and University Avenue. Spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton says the teenager is being charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder in this case.

Update: A 15-year-old male juvenile has been arrested by Lafayette Police in the alleged murder of 51-year-old Connie Burch of Pineville. Spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton says police believe the teenager shot Burch in the 1100 block of Madeline Avenue. Authorities are still trying to figure out the motive for the shooting. The boy has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

Lafayette City Police were called out at 1:10am Sunday to investigate gunshots in the 1100 block of Madeline Street.  When officers arrived they found a 51 year old woman lying on the sidewalk.  She apparently died of a single gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified at 51-year-old Connie Burch of Pineville.

Detectives are looking for a person of interest seen leaving the scene on a bike.  This person is described as a thin black man with a dark complexion with dreadlocks wearing a white muscle shirt and red shorts.
