Lafayette Police SWAT Team Makes Arrest In Aggravated Battery Case

This morning at approximately six o'clock, Lafayette Police were notified of an aggravated battery  in the 400 block of Wilson Street. 

The victim, a 28 year old male, told officers that he was sleeping on a couch inside of the suspect’s apartment, when the suspect allegedly attacked him with a knife.  The victim was able to escape and called police.  The victim was transported to an area hospital for injures to his chest, foot and hands.

When officers arrived, the suspect, 30 year old James Dantoni barricaded himself in the apartment.  The Lafayette Police Department’s SWAT team was called out and entered the apartment about three hours later and arrested Dantoni without incident. Dantoni is charged with Aggravated Battery.  The case remains under investigation.
