
Lafayette School Bus Crash: Man Headed to Mental Facility Steals Truck After Collision
A serious traffic incident on Sunday evening near the intersection of Pinhook Road and Kaliste Saloom resulted in several injuries and significant disruption.
According to Sgt. Robin Green with the Lafayette Police Department, officers were called to the 1900 block of W. Pinhook Road at approximately 6:41 PM. The crash involved a stolen school bus, which had been taken earlier in the evening by 26-year-old Marion Baker of Opelousas, LA.
After the crash, Baker reportedly fled the scene and stole a truck from a bystander who had stopped to help those involved. Law enforcement officers were able to track the stolen truck to the Rayne area, where Baker was taken into custody.
Police have stated that Baker is facing several charges in connection with the series of events.
