Louisiana State Police officials say a woman lost her life after her vehicle was pushed into oncoming traffic by a driver behind her on Friday, March 7.

Master Trooper Casey Wallace who works in the Public Affairs Section of Louisiana State Police says the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 6 when the female driver was attempting to take a legal left-hand turn, but the driver behind her, failed to stop for her car, and he pushed her vehicle into oncoming traffic.

What Happened To The Woman's Car?

Wallace says, according to the preliminary investigation, the woman. 58-year-old Doris Nichols had her car pushed into the oncoming traffic, and then her vehicle was hit a second time by another truck.

Officials are continuing to investigate to determine why 45-year-old David Cross rear-ended Nichols' vehicle after failing to slow down when she was attempting to make her turn.

Master Trooper Wallace says that even though Nichols was wearing a seat belt, her injuries were severe. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the coroner's office.

What Else Is Known About The Crash?

The driver in the truck on the opposite side of the roadway was also wearing a seat belt, but received moderate injuries and that person was taken to an area hospital in order to be treated for those injuries.

As is standard in crashes such as these, toxicology samples were taken for analysis by a lab.

The crash remains under investigation in Natchtoches Parish.
