NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Louisiana Republican Party's executive director has pleaded guilty to committing battery.

News outlets report Andrew Bautsch entered the plea last week and was sentenced to time served.

Police have said Bautsch was asked to leave a Pontchartrain hotel establishment hours after his wedding in March. They say he refused and shoved a New Orleans Levee District police officer who was working a security detail at the hotel.

Republican Party Chairman Louis Gurvich on Tuesday said Bautsch still works for the state GOP. He took over the role in March 2018.

Additional charges of criminal trespassing and resisting arrest were dropped against Bautsch.
