Louisiana State Trooper Vehicle Hit By Impaired Driver
Louisiana State Police report that an impaired driver hit a trooper's vehicle as the trooper was stopped at a traffic light.
Navigating Louisiana roadways during a snowstorm is not easy, and it is especially challenging if you are impaired, as the driver was alleged to be.
Treacherous is just one of the many words that can be used to describe the driving conditions in south Louisiana and other parts of the state today. There was even a Blizzard Warning issued for Acadiana.
Unfortunately, too many people decide to take the chance to drive in these terrible driving conditions and such was the case today. Driving will be hazardous on Wednesday as overnight temperatures will have frozen precipitation on our roadways.
In this traffic crash instance, the trooper was not harmed. The driver was arrested for DWI after the crash on Airline Highway near Tom Drive in Baton Rouge.
Louisiana State Police officials want this situation to serve as a stark reminder to never drive impaired and how dangerous it is to drive when the roadways are full of snow and ice.
As officials have said for days, if you don't have to drive, you are asked not to do so. You should stay informed with us about road conditions, as there are multiple closures throughout Louisiana.
