There are dumb criminals and then there's this guy.

A man wearing an ankle monitor after being accused of vehicle burglaries was busted in Slidell after allegedly breaking into more cars.

Police were called shortly after 3am this past Tuesday by a man who found his vehicle burglarized. Officers then noticed other cars had been broken into.

Slidell police say a police dog tracked down a 16-year-old and 22-year-old Raikenzie Durgin.

Durgin had the great idea of jumping into a canal in an attempt to escape, but then had to be rescued by authorities. He seems to have forgotten that he couldn't swim!

Durgin and the teen were arrested on seven counts each of simple burglary and one for resisting an officer. Durgin also faces a count of contributing to delinquency.
