New Iberia Woman Brutally Beaten, Stomped at Restaurant—Police Searching for Suspects
New Iberia Police are searching for suspects who are believed to be connected with a brutal beatdown at a local restaurant.
UPDATE: NIPD says they have arrested one of the suspects and withdrawn their warrant for another. See the update below.
According to KLFY, the incident took place in the late evening hours of April 8th at a restaurant off Admiral Doyle Drive in New Iberia.
Graphic videos of the incident were posted to Facebook and quickly circulated. The harrowing scene seemed neverending as multiple women are seen punching, kicking, and beating the female victim inside and outside of the restaurant.
It's unclear how or why the brawl started, but the video clip opens up with two women tussling at the front door of the restaurant.
As a mixture of onlookers watches the beatdown—some shocked, others heard egging it on—more individuals begin to join in on the fight, hitting the woman who is still locked up with the other female brawler.
Soon, the woman wearing jeans and white Nike tennis shoes falls to the ground. That's where things go from bad to worse.
Another female attacker in a dress enters the scuffle and begins to throw punches.
Eventually, the melee makes its way outdoors into the parking lot, but the violence only ramps up as another individual in what seems like a black dress kicks the victim in the face multiple times while the female in the light-colored dress continues to deliver blows while sitting on top of the victim who is now face down on the ground.
In between punching the victim in the back of the head, the woman is also seen slamming her face violently down into the pavement.
According to New Iberia police, the woman seen being hit and stomped in the video was "beaten within an inch of her life."
All of this unfolded while uninvolved diners sat and watched "in shock." A post from NIPD states that the women they believe to be responsible for the violent beatdown are now wanted on a slew of charges including "attempted first-degree murder."
