Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to restaurant on Center Street in New Iberia after a disturbance there.

The victim, an employee of the business, says the suspect came into the business and started a disturbance about a food order.

Police say 35-year-old Jerry Stevens Meyer was asked by the victim to step outside the business, and that's when the woman alleges that man lifted his shirt to show her a gun.  The man, she say, then threatened her and then left.

Deputies say they identified Meyer as their suspect, and he was arrested without incident at his home.

Investigators say the gun Meyer allegedly showed to the worker was stolen.

Meyer has been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
  • Felony carrying of an illegal weapon
  • Terrorizing
  • Possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone
