28-year-old Corlious Dyson is now behind bars after a Lafayette man was murdered nearly two months ago, in the early morning of August 26.

Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says that morning, 33-year-old Clement Amos III of Lafayette heard his female neighbor calling for help as she thought someone was trying to break into her home on the 100 block of Hummingbird Lane. When Amos got to the home, he came across who police believe was Dyson a man, who police say shot him several times, killing him. That man, who police believe was Dyson, then got away.

A sketch of the robbery suspect was put out by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office on September 11.

Dyson was arrested in Vermilion Parish with help from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office and Abbeville Police. Investigators continue to believe that Amos was not the intended target of the crime.

Opelousas Police and the U.S. Marshal's Service also assisted in the investigation.
