More information has been released by Opelousas Police Chief Martin McLendon. He says a victim was shot in the leg and wrist, according to our news partners at KATC. That victim has since been released from the hospital.

Officers believe the shooting may have stemmed from a fight - which authorities now have video of - that happened earlier Sunday. Investigators are working to identify those in the video.

Call St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers if you have any information.

*******************************

Details are still sketchy this morning but what we do know is this. Opelousas Police were called to an address on Congress Street in that town just before 10 pm. The reason for the police presence was a reported shooting in that area of town.

Chief Martin McLendon of OPD says his department is aware of one and possibly two people that were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries in connection with the incident. The injured were transported by private car. Detectives were en route to the hospital to question those victims. However, the results of that questioning have not been made public.

So far police have no suspects and are combing the area for witnesses that are willing to speak to police about what they may have seen.
