Police Searching Louisiana Lake for Missing Person

UPDATE:  Authorities have located the missing woman’s body in a shallow body of water near the area where her burnt vehicle was located off of LA 10. The shallow body of water is in a field.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is searching the Eunice City Lake for a missing person.

Several people have reported on social media that the lake was being investigated on Tuesday morning, and now  KATC TV-3 reports that the Sheriff's Department is looking for a missing person.

In addition to the search, an undocumented Hispanic male has reportedly been taken into custody and is being detained at this time.

KATC reports that authorities are searching the lake because the person in custody admitted to dumping the woman's body in the vicinity of the lake, which is next to Hwy 190 and the Eunice Municipal Golf Course.

Mark Leblanc, the public information officer FOR SLPSO tells KATC the suspect and victim are related.

The lake is closed off to the public while the investigation is underway.
