TexasLottery fans in Matagorda, McAllen, Mckinney, Muleshoe, and Mustang Ridge have another "M" word on their mind this morning. That "M" word is money. And if you thought Tuesday's Texas winners in Mega Millions had fun, just wait until you hear about how Texas tickets fared with Wednesday's Powerball drawing. Here's a hint, it's good news.

Currently, the Mega Millions game is getting more of the lottery headlines than Powerball. That's because, on Friday, the Mega Millions top prize will be an estimated $825 million, while Powerball's estimated top prize on Wednesday night was only $70.8 million. It makes sense when you consider that both games cost $2 bucks to play and $3 bucks if you want to add the multiplier (and you should, in my opinion).

Here is how the drawing played out for last night's Powerball game.

Our sources at Powerball tell us no ticket across the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the $70.8 million top prize. So that prize will be increasing for Saturday's drawing this weekend. It's estimated that by Saturday night when the ping pong balls drop, Powerball players will have a shot at an estimated $88 million for the annuitized prize. The lump sum payout is forecast to be $41 million.

Up until this past Monday, the big wins reported in Texas had been $40,000 for Mega Millions in Richardson and $250,000 in Taylor for Powerball. Of course, there was an $800 million Mega Millions win back in September in which a Texas Lottery sold ticket claimed the jackpot. So, winning lottery games is a fairly common practice in Texas these days. Speaking of winning, let's see how you did on Wednesday night.

The numbers for Powerball that were reported to us were:

06   15   18   33   49   Powerball 07   Power Play x2

Based on preliminary figures from the Texas Lottery it looks as if about 130,000 or just over 130,000 tickets sold for Wednesday's Powerball returned a prize to the purchaser. If you'd like to verify your winnings you can do that at the Official Texas Lottery website or the Official Powerball website. Those sites are the sites of record when it comes to all prizes.

We can confirm that a ticket sold for Wednesday's Powerball in Texas did match four of the five white ball numbers but did not have the Power Play option on the ticket. The prize, according to Powerball is $50,000.

The big money lottery games take Thursday night off and then we are back at it on Friday with Mega Millions. You'll only have two more chances to win that big prize between now and Christmas Day. Powerball will draw again on Saturday and again on Monday. There will be a Mega Millions drawing on Christmas Eve and a Powerball drawing on Christmas night.
