Capt. Clay Higgins is putting the popularity he garnered from his Crime Stoppers videos to help the homeless of St. Landry Parish.

Our news partner, KATC, reported Higgins has created his own Web store to sell merchandise with his quotes and his likeness to raise money to build a homeless shelter.

Higgins said his years serving as a night-shift police officer prompted him to consider the idea of an all-hours shelter.

Though Opelousas already has two shelters, Higgins told KATC the parish needs a 24-hour shelter that can accommodate those in need in the middle of the night.

All of the merchandise sports a thin blue line to show support for law enforcement and the word "redemption" is embedded on each product.

The Web site offers T-shirts, hats, bracelets and glassware with Capt. Higgins quotes and pictures. The merchandise can be purchased by clicking here.
