Sabine Jury Convicts Man Of Murder
MANY, La. (AP) — A Sabine Parish jury has convicted a Colfax man of beating a 53-year-old man to death in an attack from behind while the man fished at Toledo Bend Reservoir.
The Times reports that 43-year-old Troy L. Mundy faces life in prison after Wednesday's second-degree murder conviction for killing William Wayne Meshell of Many.
Meshell's body was floating in the water in May 2007. Mundy was arrested a day later.
Crime lab experts testified that blood on his clothes matched Meshell's, and Meshell's DNA was on a ratchet found in Mundy's pickup truck.
District Judge Stephen Beasley scheduled sentencing June 6.
