A strange set of circumstances unfolded dealing with a fire authorities say was set at a home where a woman and her children were inside. According to the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office, a woman has been accused of setting a home on fire on New Year's Eve.

State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan J Adams says they have arrested 26-year-old Aladrain Daniels for attempted murder after the woman was accused of setting a neighbor's porch on fire while a woman and her five children were inside the home.

Officials say according to investigators who responded to the situation, a deputy was able to extend the fire set on the porch and determined that Daniels had been acting erratically around the home multiple times that day before the fire was set.

Daniels was booked into the local jail on the following charges:

  • Six counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder
  • One count of Aggravated Arson

Natchitoches Fire District 6 received the call for a response about a fire in the 100 block of Rex Waterwell Road. As arson investigators were brought into the case, they determined someone intentionally set the blaze on the porch, and they determined Daniels was their suspect. She was subsequently arrested.

Chief Adams says that thankfully, the woman and her children were not harmed by this situation. The Chief adds that when they spoke to Daniels about the situation, he says she admitted to them her part in the blaze.
