Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

Yesterday around 5:00pm, Thomas Edward Nunez (20) of Lafayette, a suspect in an early Saturday morning shooting, turned himself in to authorities with the Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Office without incident.  

On January 30, 2011, around 4:45 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of East Pine Street regarding a shooting.  Responding officers located the victim at a residence on East Pine Street who had suffered a single gunshot wound.  The victim, a 47-year-old male of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital and is listed in guarded condition.  Based on information from witnesses at the scene, a disturbance occurred and the suspect allegedly produced a handgun and shot the victim once. 

The victim of the shooting remains in guarded condition.  The incident remains under investigation.
