St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot says he plans on taking the Parish Council to court for it's override of five vetoes.

He is asking the judge presiding over the case to block the ordinances until a ruling can be had on whether they violate the home rule charter. Fontenot says that the matters covered by the ordinances are allotted to the president's office and, according to the Advertiser, a parish-wide vote would be the only way to change it.

The council says that it wants more say in how the parish is run and has been at odds with Fontenot since he took office earlier this year.

So far this year, the council has set records in number of meetings and number of meetings held in executive session.
