EUNICE, La. (KPEL News) - The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is offering a comprehensive concealed carry permit training class on January 18, 2025, providing participants with vital knowledge and updates on Louisiana’s newly implemented firearm carry laws. The class will take place at 211 West Park, Eunice, LA, starting at 7:30 AM, and is an excellent opportunity for residents to ensure they are informed and prepared under the latest regulations.

What You Need to Know About Louisiana’s New Concealed Carry Law

In August 2024, Louisiana enacted a significant change to its firearm regulations, allowing most individuals aged 21 and older to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. This new law, often referred to as “constitutional carry,” means that law-abiding citizens are no longer required to obtain a permit to conceal carry. However, this does not eliminate the need for proper training and understanding of firearm safety and state laws.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz emphasized the importance of education, stating, "While the new law gives residents more freedom, responsible firearm ownership and awareness of legal responsibilities are crucial."
