Just before 3 o'clock this morning, officers with the St. Martinville Police Department were called out to the Cypress Gardens Apartments after there was a call about shots fired.

St. Martinville Police Department Police Department Spokesman Adam Touchet says that there was an argument, and that 28-year-old Amite Joseph Marshall Jr. allegedly fired a shot into the pavement.

Touchet says that the bullet then ricocheted, and it hit the victim in this case.

The victim ended up being hurt in the thigh and that person ended up with a fractured femur.

Marshall has been charged with Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery, and they have charged 27-year-old Trae Thomas with Principal to Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery.

Touchet says the victim is in stable condition at an area hospital.
