It has to warm your heart to hear that students buy new shoes for their teacher after his were stolen out of his classroom. Two weeks ago at Logan Fontenelle Middle School in Nebraska, students were obviously affected when they found out that their teacher's expensive basketball shoes were stolen so they wanted to help. Trey Payne's students pitched in to buy him a brand new pair to replace his stolen ones. Tears filled Payne’s eyes as he opened the box and looked at his students.

What an amazing act of kindness. The student's names are Emma Mitchell, Carlo Kemper, Miguel Caceres, Elicia Fenner, Ka’Maiya Hunt, Jacob Perrin, Mia McVay, Braylen Hurley, Colin Osborn, Therese Chandler, Michaela Miller, Pressly Schoenherr, Cyrus Cheshier, and a teacher, Mr. Rob Lavalleur.

It’s not about a pair of shoes. It’s about the fact that these children wanted to do something kind and they wanted to help. Bellevue Public Schools shared the story on their Facebook page with pride. This story couldn’t be shared enough. It’s so heartwarming and Mr. Payne’s reaction, as you can see in the photo, is just priceless.

Lafayette and everyone in Acadiana, this is something that we would do. Our community is strong and we love to do kind things.  If you know of any local stories like this, please let me know at jenn@999ktdy.com.
