Texans, if you’ve been enjoying a particular vanilla-flavored ice cream over the last eight years, you might have a chance to claim a cash refund, thanks to a nearly $9 million settlement.

A class-action lawsuit was filed against the manufacturer of this ice cream, alleging that the “Natural Vanilla” label misled consumers into thinking the flavor came only from the vanilla plant. The lawsuit claims the ice cream also included flavoring from other sources, though the company denies any wrongdoing.

Texans who purchased this vanilla ice cream between April 21, 2016, and August 14, 2024, could be eligible for a payout. No proof of purchase is necessary, but without it, the maximum refund is $8, or $1 per product. With receipts, however, there’s no cap on the refund amount – you’ll receive $1 for each product purchased.

Be aware that if too many claims are submitted, the payouts could be reduced, as the $8.85 million fund will be distributed evenly.

Claims need to be filed by February 19, 2025, with a limit of one claim per household. You can file online or by mail. The final approval hearing for this settlement is scheduled for November 21.

Texans, spread the word to your friends and loved ones, as this could be your chance to enjoy a little sweet payback from your favorite vanilla treat!
