Texas Lottery: 9 Powerball Tickets Won $50,000 or More Saturday
The cash machine at the Texas Lottery offices in Austin, Texas will be working overtime this week. I assume the Texas Lottery has a cash machine, I don't think they can just print out the cash, right? Needless to say, if they could print out the cash then lottery officials would be looking for a lot of green ink to cover the payouts that Texas Powerball players managed to score during Saturday night's drawing.
When the ping pong balls dropped on Saturday night the estimated top prize in the multi-state Powerball jackpot was estimated to be $34.6 million for the annuity. The lump sum or cash payout was advertised as an estimated $17. 2 million. The Powerball jackpot was just restarting after a jackpot win last Monday and another jackpot win the Monday before that.
If you were unable to witness the drawing on Saturday night. Here is how the Powerball drawing for Saturday, August 24, 2024, played out.
Our sources at Powerball tell us that two tickets were sold for Saturday's drawing that matched the numbers needed to claim the Match 5 million prize. Those big-money winners were sold in Michigan and Washington. No ticket was sold that matched the numbers needed to claim the $34.6 million jackpot.
That jackpot will continue to grow until it gets a winner. If history repeated itself again that winner could be found tonight. Powerball has had a jackpot winner for the past two Mondays in a row, so tonight could be a history-making three-peat.
Our sources at the Texas Lottery say Saturday's Powerball drawing in the Lone Star State was particularly lucrative. There were nine different tickets sold across Texas that earned a prize of at least $50,000. Each of those tickets matched the same prize-winning scenario. They matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball.
According to the Texas Lottery, there were five tickets that earned a prize of $50,000 with that prize-winning scenario. There were four other tickets that also matched four of five with the Powerball but those ticket purchasers opted for the Power Play which brought their total winnings to $150,000.
The winning numbers as observed were:
05 15 21 24 43 Powerball 17 Power Play x3
Use those numbers as a reference but before you attempt to claim a prize please verify your tickets and your numbers at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites allow you to verify multiple tickets at a time. They also have detailed information on how to claim a prize should you be fortunate enough to be a winner.
The next Powerball drawing is planned for tonight. The estimated annuitized top prize is $44 million. The lump sum payout would be approximately $21.9 million. Tuesday's Mega Millions game boasts a top prize of $575 million (estimated). That game made a new Texas millionaire in Friday's game.
Lotto Texas with Extra! also draws tonight. That game features a top prize of $14.25 million for the annuity or $8.35 for the lump sum payout.
Please remember most lottery tickets sold are not winners. Only spend what you can afford to lose. If you have a gambling problem help is available. Call 1-800- GAMBLER. The call is free and so is the referral.
