What makes a Texan feel lucky? Is it seeing the sunset behind the Davis Mountains? Is it watching the Cowboys fold like cheap lawn furniture on a Sunday afternoon in Dallas? Or maybe you ascribe to the Mac Davis school of thought and find happiness seeing (Lubbock) Texas In My Rearview Mirror?

Or maybe your idea of "lucky" is seeing the Powerball numbers on your Texas Lottery ticket match the numbers that just rolled out of the Powerball hopper on a Wednesday night.

According to my sources at the Texas Lottery, some 39,871 Texans can look at themselves in the mirror this morning and feel lucky. That's how many winning Powerball tickets were sold in the state for Wednesday's drawing.

If you didn't see the Powerball drawing, let's get you up to speed. The jackpot of the estimated annuity prize on Wednesday was listed at $273.5 million when the time for the drawing arrived. Here's what happened.

We've got good news and not-so-good news regarding the Powerball drawing for October 2, 2024. The not-so-good news is that you didn't win the $273.5 million top prize. The good news is that neither did anyone else. So, Saturday's Powerball will climb to an estimated jackpot of $295 million.

But Texas Lottery players can take solace in knowing that there were some big money winners sold in the Lone Star State for Wednesday's Powerball game. The Texas Lottery has confirmed one ticket earned a prize of $50,000 while another matched the same number combination of four "white balls" and the Powerball to claim $150,000. The larger prize winner opted for the Power Play which in last night's game meant their prize was tripled.

If you'd like to check your numbers, here's what we saw:

Before you attempt to claim any money from your Powerball tickets please verify your winnings and your numbers at the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. They are the official word on who wins and who doesn't.

Texas' other big-money lottery game also drew on Wednesday night. Lotto Texas with Extra! had a top prize of $24.2 million going into Wednesday's drawing. No tickets sold matched the numbers needed to claim that prize but three tickets matched five of six and added the "Extra!" to their ticket to earn a prize of $11,967.

The Lotto Texas with Extra! jackpot will now climb to an estimated top prize of $25.5 million when they hold the next drawing on Saturday night. However, your next chance at life-changing millions will come on Friday night with the Mega Millions game.

The top prize in Mega Millions is estimated to be $108 million for Saturday night. That's the annuitized jackpot, the lump sum for that game is estimated to be $53.8 million.
