Texas Lottery Confirms Powerball Winner Wednesday Night
Mother Nature might be cooling things down this weekend but the Texas Lottery and the multi-state lottery game Powerball are certainly turning up the heat. Our sources at the Texas Lottery confirmed in the wee small hours of Thursday morning that one Powerball player in Texas has "a lot of good reasons" to double-check their tickets and verify their numbers if they want to have "one heck of a weekend".
The Powerball lottery is played in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands three times a week. The game holds drawings on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights. The object of the game is to match five of the "white balls" and the Powerball to claim the game's jackpot prize.
The jackpot for Wednesday night, October 16, 2024, was estimated to be$408.8 million. That's what the folks at Powerball call "life-changing". I would agree. If I suddenly found myself in possession of $408 million I would be writing this Powerball update from a much nicer office.
So, we know Wednesday's drawing produced a big winner in Texas. Now, let's see if that big winner was you. Here's how the Powerball balls bounced on Wednesday.
As we mentioned the object of the game is to match five white ball numbers, which range from 1-69, and the red Powerball number, whose numbers range from 1-26 on one ticket. The more you match the more you win.
Based on what we've learned from our sources at the Texas Lottery a single Texas ticket did a lot of "number matching" last night. This fact was corroborated by our Powerball sources and we can tell you that a Texas-sold ticket matched four of the five white balls, the Powerball, and the ticket's purchaser opted for the Power Play.
The Texas Lottery has also revealed that three other tickets sold in the state matched that same prize-winning scenario of four white balls and the Powerball but did not opt for the Power Play. Those tickets are valued at $50,000 each this morning.
The numbers that we saw roll out of the hopper at Powerball on Wednesday were:
04 30 39 44 60 Powerball 11 Power Play x2
Before you run screaming down the hall that you're rich and quit your job, please verify those numbers at the Official Texas Lottery Website or the Official Powerball Website. Those sites are the final word in "Did I win", and they have detailed information on the process of prize redemption.
The Powerball jackpot will now climb to an estimated $437 million for Saturday's drawing. If you play Lotto Texas with Extra! There was no jackpot winner in that Wednesday drawing either. However, six tickets did earn a prize in that game of $11,298 while another 17 tickets earned $1,298. The jackpot for Saturday's Lotto Texas with Extra drawing is now an estimated $30.5 million.
The Mega Millions multi-state lottery game will be drawn on Friday night, the top prize in that game is estimated to be $185 million when the balls drop at 10 pm.
Please play Powerball and all lottery games responsibly. If you have a gambling problem help is available at no cost to you. Call 1-800-GAMBLER. The call and the referrals are free.
