Austin, Texas (KPEL News)—The Texas Lottery has confirmed, based on the results of Wednesday's Powerball lottery drawing, that the state of Texas has a brand new multi-millionaire. The big-money ticket was one of several big winners the Texas Lottery confirmed following last night's drawing.

The big-money win in the multi-state Powerball Lottery game is one of several big wins the game has produced for Texas players in recent weeks. This past weekend a ticket sold in San Antonio claimed a prize of $2 million. And in September of last year, another Texas-sold Powerball ticket claimed a $2 million prize as well. That ticket was purchased in Victoria. So Texans are no strangers to big money payouts with Powerball.

If you did not see the drawing for Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Here is how that unfolded.

The "life-changing" jackpot up for grabs on Wednesday was an estimated $417.9 million according to our sources at Powerball. The cash value of a jackpot win last night was estimated to be $207.2 million. But there were no tickets sold across the Powerball footprint that matched the numbers needed to claim that jackpot prize.

There were two tickets sold for Wednesday's game that not only earned a Match 5 Million prize but the ticket purchasers doubled their money by invoking the Power Play option in the game. A Match 5 Million is when a ticket matches the numbers of all five of the "white balls" that are drawn but does not match the Powerball.

The two multi-million dollar winners were sold in Colorado and you've probably figured it out, Texas. But the $2 million winner was not the only big ticket sold in Texas for Wednesday's Powerball drawing.  In fact, our sources with the Texas Lottery in Austin confirmed that 33,521 Powerball tickets sold in Texas returned prize money to their purchasers.

Of those 33,521 winning tickets, 13,423 of them doubled their money by invoking the Power Play option. If you'd like to check your tickets, here are the numbers that we saw drawn from the hopper.

If you think you have a match and a winner please verify that ticket at the Official Texas Lottery Website. You can find not only confirmation of your win but get prize redemption information at that site. In most cases you can claim your prize at any Texas Lottery retailer but for larger prize wins you will need to visit an Official Texas Lottery field office.

Our source in Austin at the Texas Lottery was able to confirm the point of purchase on the $2 million winner. It was sold in Edinburgh, Texas. That's in Hidalgo County just north of McAllen. The ticket was purchased at Las Carretas Meat Market on Monte Cristo Road in that city.

There was also a $100,000 Powerball winner from Texas last night. The Texas Lottery doesn't offer point-of-purchase details on wins under one million dollars so we can't tell you where that ticket was purchased.

The Powerball jackpot will climb to an estimated annuitized amount of $444 million for Saturday's drawing. The lump sum payout for a jackpot win on Saturday would be $207.2 million. Mega Millions will be drawn on Friday night. The jackpot in that multi-state lottery game is estimated to be near $324 million when they drop the ping pong balls in that drawing Friday night at 10 pm.

While it's always fun to report big lottery wins the reality is that most tickets are not winners. Please play responsibly when you choose to play.
