Picture it, Bells,Texas in the year 2013. The Texas Lottery is celebrating its 21st Anniversary. We didn't have the lottery in Texas until 1992 and the state had not been playing Powerball that long. But on that date in 2013 in the tiny town of Bells between the much larger communities of Sherman and Bonham Texas, the Lone Star State picked up its first-ever Powerball jackpot win.

Based on historical reports, the jackpot for that Texas Powerball win was $40 million, which is very similar to what Texans were attempting to win in last night's Powerball game. We do know the winner of that $40 million back in 2013 opted for the "cash payout," which was almost $25 million before the tax man took his cut.

Now let's fast forward another ten years plus one and a half to see how Texas Lottery players fared in the Powerball drawing for Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

If you watched the video you heard host Laura Johnson mention the jackpot for Wednesday's Powerball was $30.4 million.

Texas Lottery Reveals Two Tickets Won Big In Wednesday's Powerball

While no ticket sold across the Powerball Game's footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the game's jackpot there were some big wins in Texas on Wednesday. Our sources at the Texas Lottery revealed two Texas-sold Powerball tickets matched four of five white balls and the Powerball numbers.

By rule, those tickets earned a prize of $50,000 in the Powerball Game. Neither ticket purchaser opted for the Power Play option which in the case of last night's drawing would have doubled their $50,000 to $100,000.

The winning numbers for Powerball on December 11, 2024 were reported to be:

13   44   50   52   54   Power Play x2

You can verify your numbers at the Official Powerball website or the Official Texas Lottery website. Please do so before you attempt to claim a prize.

Our sources at the Texas Lottery revealed that some 21,803 tickets sold for Powerball in the state earned their money back or more. Meanwhile, almost as many Texas Lottery players earned money playing Wednesday's other big draw game Lotto Texas with Extra!

The jackpot in Lotto Texas has climbed to $50.5 million since there was no jackpot win last night. That means Lotto Texas will again have a larger estimated top prize than Powerball when they draw for both games on Saturday evening. The estimated jackpot for Powerball on Saturday is only $45 million.
