When it comes to the multi-state lottery draw games, it appears as though Texas Lottery players appear to lean more in the direction of Mega Millions than they do Powerball. Both games have made big winners in Texas. Powerball has made a $50,000 winner in Schertz, Texas, and a $2 million winner in Victoria in recent weeks.

Meanwhile Mega Millions has created a $3 million winner in San Antonio and a $1 million winner in Lubbock over the past six months. So Texans play and win with both games, but it does seem as though Lone Star "luck" prefers the Mega Millions game. The reason we say that is Mega Millions produced another "mega" win for a Texas Lottery player on Tuesday night.

If you missed the drawing from the Georgia Lottery studios in Atlanta here is how that unfolded.

The top prize in Tuesday's Mega Millions game was an estimated $44 million for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum payout for Tuesday was estimated to be $19.8 million. Nobody won that. No tickets across the Mega Millions "universe" matched the numbers needed to claim the big money.

There were also no Match 5 Million winners reported from our sources at Mega Millions. Meanwhile, the Texas Lottery is reporting that of all the tickets sold in the state almost 30,000 of them returned money to their purchaser. And of those almost 30,000 winners almost half of them had their prize multiplied by opting for the game's Megaplier or multiplier function.

Here are the numbers from the Mega Millions drawing for Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

10   19   31   47   56   Mega Ball 06    Megaplier x5

Did you happen to notice the "Megaplier" number? If you had a winning ticket for last night's game your prize would have been multiplied by five. Powerball has a 10x multiplier that is included in its drawings until the annuitized jackpot reaches $150 million or more.

So it's a good idea to consider adding either Power Play in Powerball or Megaplier in Mega Millions if you can afford the extra dollar. And let's face it, if you're budgeting that tight, you might want to consider not playing lottery games until your financial situation has stabilized.

If you checked your numbers and you think you have a winning ticket before you attempt to cash that ticket please get those numbers verified at the Official Texas Lottery website or the Official Mega Millions website. We do know there was one ticket sold in Texas that earned a prize of $10,000 in last night's game. So do check your tickets at the official sites.  Those are the sites of record and they will provide information on how to collect your prize that you won't find anywhere else.

The Mega Millions jackpot will now climb to an estimated $59 million on Friday night. Meanwhile, tonight's Powerball jackpot is listed at $69 million, and Lotto Texas with Extra! has an even larger jackpot than the multi-state games do. The jackpot for Lotto Texas with Extra is estimated to be $73.75 million when the balls drop tonight.
