Texas Could Get Another Strong Arctic Blast to Start New Year

Parts of Texas are still covered in snow and ice, and another Arctic Blast could be on its way into the Deep South.

It has been very cold for most of January in Texas, and it may get even colder before the month ends. A recent arctic blast has brought temperatures to or below the freezing point, and some areas in Texas have received several inches of snow.

So what can we expect in the days ahead? Well, it looks like another mass of frigid air from Canada will push southward by mid-month, and that colder air could impact our region in the next 10 days.

Yes, things are shaping up to be very cold towards the end of the month, and this next Arctic blast, according to some in the weather world, could be even stronger than the Arctic air we received to start January.

While long-range forecasts can change from time to time, we share this with you now so that you can begin making preparations around your house. If you need to address exposed pipes or animals that may live outdoors, it may be a good time to start making plans or preparations.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, January and February always seem to be the coldest months in the south, and things are shaping up for a very cold end to January.

For those who hate winter, just know that warmer days are ahead, but you're going to have to deal with some very cold days and nights ahead, just brace yourselves.

As for more winter precipitation in Texas, well, let's see how things play out. Some long-range weather models do show some winter "stuff" reaching parts of the Deep South towards the end of the month. But again, it's a long-range forecast, and yes, we know things can change.
