Louisiana State Police have reported a Mamou man was killed early this morning in a single-vehicle crash in Evangeline Parish.

Master Trooper Brooks David reported 22-year-old Brian Anderson was not wearing his seat belt when his vehicle overturned on La. 376 near Mayeauxville Road.

Anderson was traveling southbound on La. 376 in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe when, for unknown reasons, he drove off of the roadway and over-corrected causing the vehicle to overturn. He was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining severe injuries. He was transported to Savoy Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from Anderson and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.
