(Story courtesy of katc.com) A kindergarten student critically injured in a St. Landry Parish School Bus crash on Friday, has died. That's according to Mark Stoute, father of Karen "Kare Bear" Stoute. She was just five years old.

Stoute was taken by AirMed to Lafayette General Medical Center on Friday morning in critical condition with severe brain trauma.

Stoute was one of 21 students on board a school bus that was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler on Highway 190.

Six counselors are working with students at Port Barre High School. Four of those counselors were brought in from other schools.

15 year old Colby Richard is in critical, but stable condition. He underwent a second surgery for his legs this morning. A fund has been set up for Colby at American Bank and Trust. You can donate anywhere in Acadiana.

Karen passed away at 11:38 a.m.
