Investigators in New Iberia believe a shooting that took place on Saturday night was the result of a botched robbery attempt. In that robbery gone wrong, one person was fatally wounded. That person has been identified as 26-year-old Brandon Malveaux of New Iberia.

Two people have been taken into custody in connection with that shooting. 23-year-old Tyler Bourque and 50-year-old Ronald Bourque were arrested Sunday and booked on charges of Attempted Robbery and First Degree Murder.

The incident happened in the 100 block of Cotton Street around 10 pm on Saturday night. Investigators do say there could be more arrests made in connection with this case.
