Villle Platte House Fire Claims Life of 106-Yr-Old Man
The Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a Saturday morning fire that proved fatal for a 106-year-old Ville Platte man.
A press release stated firefighters responded to a residential fire on the 100 block of John F. Kennedy Dr. at around 9:30 a.m.
As firefighters fought the blaze, they located the lifeless body of Edward "Knotoe" Thomas Jr. who lived at the home with his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Larry Jackson.
Thomas was alone at the home at the time of the fire.
An official cause of death is yet to be determined.
Thomas, who served as a Ville Platte police oficer for 25 years,fathered 10 children. He is survived by 5 of his children, 37 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
