Changes are on the way for the city of Opelousas after voters decided to change who is in the leadership role of the city during this past weekend's election.

Incumbent Mayor Donald Cravins was beaten in the race.

Reggie Tatum earned just over 55 percent of the vote in Opelousas to gain the job of Mayor on Saturday.

In other election news out of Opelousas, the city now has a new police Chief.

Chief Perry Gallow was defeated by Donald D.T. Thompson who just over 56 percent of the vote.
