Authorities are reporting an alarming new trend saying meth addicts are using wasp spray as an alternative to the drug. Three people have overdosed so far.

KLFY reports Police in West Virginia say it seems meth users are inhaling wasp spray as a quick fix when they can't find meth or can't afford it. It is believed to have contributed to three overdoses in the area.

Police say the effects of inhaling wasp spray include "erratic behavior and extreme swelling and redness of the hands and feet."

Boone County Sgt. Charles Sutphin tells WFLA/CNN “From what we’re being told, if you use it, you know, you might use it once or twice and be fine, but the third time when your body hits that allergic reaction, it can kill you"
