Grand Coteau Shooting Victim Dies; Suspect’s Charges Upgraded
The victim in an Easter Sunday shooting at a Grand Coteau has died from his wounds.
Grand Coteau police say Lance Ventress succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, three weeks after he was shot at a local gas station.
According to investigators, Carnelius Davis shot Ventress during a fight at a gas station off I-49. Ventress ran out of the gas station, but he later collapsed. A third person who tried to break up the fight was not injured.
Davis, of Crowley, is now facing a second-degree murder charge. He's also facing one count of attempted second-degree murder.
