Smoke Destroys Vacant Lafayette Home
Just before 2 o'clock this morning, Lafayette firefighters were called out to the 200 block of Madison Street to battle a house fire.
A Lafayette Police officer called in the fire after witnessing heavy smoke coming from the house that sits at the corner of Madison and Sherman Streets.
Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says it took about 25 minutes to put, and he adds that no one was injured in the fire.
Neighbors told firefighters that the home has been vacant for almost a month.
