Ville Platte Man Killed In House Fire

The State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the circumstances involving a house fire that killed a 62-year-old Ville Platte man.

According to a press release, around 1 a.m. Sunday firefighters responded to a fire on Calcasieu Street where smoke and flames were pouring out of James Malveaux's wood-framed home.

The Evangeline Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.

Investigators found no fire alarms in the residence.
