If you frequently travel W. Broussard Road on the south side of Lafayette, you will want to know that a portion of it will close this week.

According to Lafayette Consolidated Government's Traffic, Roads, and Bridges Department, the 700 block of W. Broussard Road will close temporarily as part of the Hummingbird Lane Drainage Improvements project.

The closure is necessary to allow the contractor to install subsurface drains across W. Broussard Road.

The roadway will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday, January 14, 2025, and is expected to be closed until Friday, January 24, 2025.

Detour routes will be in place and local access will be allowed for residents.

Those detour routes include:

  • Ridge Road
  • Rue Du Belier
  • Duhon Road

Those who reside on Hummingbird Lane will have access to their homes via the Duhon Road side of the closure.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, plan for potential delays, and utilize detour routes to navigate the construction zone.
