A recent crash is the reason given for Louisiana DOTD crews to shut down the Vermilion River Bridge on Eloi Broussard Road in Lafayette this week.

All lanes of I-10 Westbound between Henderson and Breaux Bridge have been reopened after a traffic crash forced a lane closure.

The announcement came after a major crash forced two of the three lanes on I-10 westbound to close around 10 a.m. Friday morning.

A cracked gas line forced a road closure just south of the Acadiana Mall.

As of right now, there is no long-term closure planned for I-10 westbound on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.

LADOTD worked the scene overnight and into the day on Friday, clearing the buckle and laying new asphalt.

The injuries are serious, according to Lafayette police. No other information is available at this time.

The LPD traffic division headed to the scene immediately and closed the intersection while they are investigating the crash.

LPD is currently asking motorists to avoid the area while they investigate the crash. More information will be made available as the investigation continues.

Emergency repairs will be conducted on the Basin Bridge for most of the workday on Friday.

Try to avoid I-10 eastbound, if possible. Congestion has traffic at a near-standstill Sunday.

According to reports, one lane of Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette will be shutdown for approximately five months as repairs to the sound-wall lining the road are underway. Those daily closures of the outside, northbound lane on Ambassador will happen between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. per the report.

The construction at the intersection of Guilbeau Road and West Congress Street in Lafayette has been going on for what seems like an eternity. However, it looks like the project will be done in less than two weeks.
